Summer 1187 - I traveled to Durenmar to research the gems of the founders. I came up empty handed for the most part but I did find an important book on the founding of the order. Spring 1184 - Invidio, finally consumed by the very power he was obsessed with, dies during a botched investigation of the Jewel of Bonisagus. The ensuing explosion takes out Invidio's lab and collapses the entire northeast tower, including my lab on the upper levels. I barely survived the loss of my leg. It is later learned that Invidio's mind persists. Winter 1183 - Monks arrive and begin constructing a monastary on the site of the former village to keep the infernal regio from reappearing. Autumn 1183 - Through my connections in house Jerbiton I contact a Pious Magus who arrives and cleanses the Infernal Regio that exists on the site of the former village. Summer 1183 - We receive word of infernal activites at the village near our covenant. The priest who has recently moved to the village is in fact an infernalist. We burn the village to the ground. Autumn 1170 - Courbousalle declares a wizard's war on Insula Sagittarius. Allies gather to both Covenants. There are many casulaties on both sides including Marianna of Jerbiton, but eventually Courbousalle is defeated and their covenant lays in ruins. Cornelius the White, instigator of the Wizard's War, flees to parts unknown and escapes with most of Courbousalle's most valuable treasures. Summer 1170 - Tribunal...there is much tension and lines are being drawn. Something big is coming... Autumn 1167 - I am cured of my affliction at long last. I have lost nearly five years of study and am well behind the rest of the covenant. Winter 1165 - Dr. Praetorius, a magus of House Tremere and an acknowledged expert in Corpus magics, arrives at the request of the Primus of House Bonisagus to help find a cure for Castus' condition. The bestial side of Castus' nature is slowly consuming him, devouring his human soul. If a cure for the curse is now found, the magus will be lost forever. Summer 1163 - The wizard's council of 1163. Castus brings formal charges against Cynicus Augustus for scrying upon his fellow magi with the aid of the Jewel of Tytalus, and for molesting the mundanes in his looting of the cathedral crypts at Avignon. A lengthy inquest is held, with Marcellus Legatus, Presiding Quaesitor of the Normandy Tribunal and member of Bibliotheca Umbrae, leading the questioning, and Castus, Adura and Hadrimon assisting. In the end, Cynicus is acquitted of the most serious charges and escapes with only a minor reprimand and a fine of vis. During his testimony, however, he renounces House Tremere, which he claims has brought him noting but misery. Spring 1161 - Word reaches the Covenant of a hedge mage practicing his arts in the city of Brest. Castus travels there to investigate but returns empty-handed after being outsmarted by the hedge wizard. After leaving Brest, Castus decided it would be pudent to wander through the woods of Mythic Brittany alone... at night. He is attacked and bitten by a werewolf but is rescued by some well-armed peasants, who help him recover. His nightmare is only just beginning. Summer 1154 - Castus travels with two grogs to Bibliotheca Umbrae and stumbled unknowingly into the political conflict between the chief of the magi there, Tiberius Greyhand, and the powerful convenant of Fudarus and its de facto leader, Coriolanus Ruber. Both Tiberius and Coriolanus are members of the honored lineage of Biluous, the Storm Wizards of House Tytalus. Castus also traveled to L'Etoile d'Argent and met with Marianna of Jerbiton. She may be an ally in the future. Spring 1152 - The tale-telling competition takes place and cynicus wins the blue gem with a story out of his own past. Cynicus has an unsavory reputation among the Magi of the Tribunal due to the black deeds of his master Condratus. Castus resolves to watch him closely. Summer 1151 - Three magi of Insula Sagittarius travel into the forest to the west of the Covenant to recover Pascal, Captain of the Covenant's grogs, who wandered into the forest and did not return. He is a captive of Prince Celethar, the Lord of the Golden Door, for a dalliance with his consort. Most displeased, the prince "suggests" a contest of storytelling between the Magi and his court troubador, the prize for which shall be the silver pendant at his consort's neck, holding a great blue gem of obvious power. Cynicus takes a keen interest in this gem. Summer 1150 - There is tension with the neighboring Covenant of Courbousalle. The magi there, led by Cornelius the White of House Flambeau and Orlando de Verona of House Jerbiton, are most displeased by the founding of another covenant so close to theirs, and the resulting conflict over resources. Initial relations and negotiations over vis sources are tense but nominally friendly. Spring
1150 - The covenant of Insula Sagittarius is founded on the
ruins of an old monastery, northwest of the city of Nantes in Brittany.
The founding members of the covenant include Castus Candentis of House
Guernicus, Cynicus Augustus of House Tremere, Romulus of House Tytalus
and Gaius the Lesser of House Verditius. |
